"Brompton Heritage & Family History Day" - Saturday 15th March 2008 1pm to 4.30pm is an open-door invitation to a series of events and displays in the Village Hall. There will be a display/collection of Brompton historical items and ephemera plus lots of sources of information for all things Brompton. Databases of various Brompton records (Burials, Memorial Inscriptions and other local census material) will be made available so that villagers (and anyone who happens to be visiting at the time) can find out something about their family history or any other local history. The following organisations will be amongst those participating:- Northallerton & District Local History Society Cleveland Family History Society Allertonshire Civic Society Help will be at hand for those who may be having difficulties with their family history research. The whole day will be a 2 way gathering of information and there will be many photographs of villagers of the past (and present) whose identity is at present unknown - perhaps you can help?? The day will be a largely informal event, it will be mainly a drop-in event for people to find out a little more of Brompton's history. If anyone feels that they would be able to make some sort of contribution to the day, please feel free to get in touch and we will endeavour to fit you in.
