Hello all, I have a very important message from the Secretary of the Parish Register Section, Yorkshire Archaeological Society - www.yorkshireparishregisters.com. She asks me to tell you that the marriages between 8 February 1779 and 27 December 1779 are missing from the Whitby Parish Registers CD. If you have purchased this CD and would like a photocopy of the missing pages, please send your address by email to: secretary@yorkshireparishregisters.freeserve.co.uk, or by post to: Parish Register Section Yorkshire Archaeolical Society Claremont 23 Clarendon Road LEEDS LS2 9NZ Naturally, any future Whitby CD orders will have the missing pages included. Hello. Does any List member have a surname - ADMAN - HADMAN - HARDMAN with Welsh based EDWARDS connections in their family tree? I am looking for the father of a -CATHERINE HADMAN - born 1842, and recorded in the 1851 Census for Bedwellty. Monmouthshire as the nine years old grand-daughter of William & Catherine Edwards, all living at 60 Bath Terrace, Victoria. Unfortunately no mum or dad for Catherine listed. My only lead is the family tradition that there were strong Yorkshire connections between the 1850s and 1870s. I would be grateful for any help in trying to find this absentee dad. Many thanks. Dorothy Higgins.
Hi Listers, Would anyone be able to tell me where I might find the burial registers for St. Aidan's, Boosbeck? I am looking for my great grandparents, John Henry and Sarah "Jane" GOODRICK. To the best of my knowledge, they were buried at St. Aidan's around the early 1900's. I have nothing specific but a photo of St. Aidan's with the caption "Where mom & dad sleep" which was from my great uncle, Harry GOODRICK. I have purchased a booklet of Monumental Inscriptions for St. Aidan's from the Cleveland Family History Society but unfortunately there were no GOODRICK'S to be found. If any listers would have any suggestions or know where and how I can access burial registers I would be most appreciative. Many thanks. Sheryl British Columbia, Canada

Hello everyone, This must be a benchmark week as not a single email address has bounced! My many thanks to the many subscribers who asked me to update their email addresses. There is no form for this and I am happy to change your data, just remember to send me both your old and your new email address, in the text of the body, and I'll do the rest. You don't have to send me a list of names either. 15 names were submitted to the database this week: ARUNDEL BILTON, BUNTING CARROLL GLEDHILL HONEYMAN, HUSON JOHNSON MURPHY RENNISON, RYEHILL TWOMEY WADE, WALKER, WINDROSS Regards to all, Magdalena -- Magdalena Gorrell Guimaraens List Administrator INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING NAMES and Home Page: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/YKSlist/ PLEASE ADDRESS ALL CORRESPONDENCE TO: ykssurnames@yahoo.com
Hi Mavis. This sounds very promising. I have the marriage for them, so that is ok. I will definitely send for the certificate for the death you mention. It's sometimes unexpected where people move to, do they have friends there or work? It certainly makes it more "interesting" to track them down. Thank you very much for spotting this. Gillian, I must admit the thought had crossed my mind that he might still be alive. It might still need investigating. Hi Sue, This may be a daft question but are you certain that he has died? If he was born 1906 he could still be alive. Hello everyone, I'm trying to trace a death certificate in order to obtain army personnel records for my grandfather-in-law, William Aidan GRIFFITHS. He was born 1906 in Middlesbrough and married Eleanor Burrows in 1926, while in the army, in Aldershot, Hants. They changed their names slightly and both said they were 21, when they were 19 and 20. When his wife died in 1953 (she was living in Redcar at the time), her death certificate stated "Formerly the wife of William Aidan Griffiths, Rehabilitation Officer". I believe they had been separated for a while. I have searched death records from 1952 to 2006, for Griffiths (William or Aidan or Dan or Bill), for all over the country (even though I believe he stayed around Middlesbrough), looking for someone with a matching age (to a couple of years) and not come up with any convincing matches (I checked for these people's births to eliminate them). Does anyone have any idea how I can find him? I've spent over a year on this and I had hoped the army had a 100 year rule (i.e. they would send out the information without a death certificate if it was more than 100 years after his birth). I need the army information to track down where he might have died (catch 22 situation). Any help gratefully received Sue Tomkins
Hi There, Anyone interested in the name BEILBY or BIELBY in the areas around Rillington, Settrington, Malton etc? The earliest ancestor connected to me I have found was Charlotte BEILBY b.1818 Rillington Cum Scampston born to Jane (SHEFFIELD?) and William BEILBY. The name STEELE is also connected to this family. I know this name goes back a long way in this area, if anyone is interested please contact me :-) Regards, Laura
Patricia, thank you for taking the trouble to look, it is appreciated. Some members of the families I am interested in may have moved away from Middlesbrough, although the death years I gave are all Middlesbrough deaths. At least it does cross one cemetery off the list.
