    3. Thanks to everyone who's responded to my query with tips, suggestions etc. You've all been most helpful. Obviously no resource is perfect or infallible so it helps to have some idea of the limitations of those you are using and what should be borne in mind when using them. But then, that's the case with any historical document or source. 3. Hello As I understand it you are quite correct Susan and all parishes were not available to LDS for microfilming. Philimores Atlas lists those parishes and dates which were covered. Unfortunately I don't think this is available online but many libraries have a copy. Some county records offices list the parishes covered (or not) and some of these can be found by an online search. Durham Record Office, for instance, lists parishes indexed on IGI in Handlist 8 and this can be viewed online. I don't think N Yorkshire is so helpful! 1. Re: [N'Yorks] LDS Centres
    2. Jenny DeAngelis
    3. Is you go to the LDS website at www.familysearch.org and look along the top of the page you will see a link to "Family History Library Catalogue" click on it and it will give you a series of search options. If you choose "Place Search" you can type in the name of the place which interests you, for example Northallerton, and also type in where it says "part of" put England. This should bring up a series of results. If it is only a very small place that you search for then you tend to get less results than for a larger town or city. Look at the list of results and see if there is a link to Church Records if so then you can follow that link to see just which registers or transcripts of registers are available on film from the LDS. You can print out the relevant page of film details for places of interest to you and take that copy with you to the LDS as a reference of which films you want to order. In amongst the results you may also see a link for "Church Record Indexes" these usually refer to what is included in the IGI online I believe. It does seem to be that not all incumbents allow the filming of their registers but a lot of older registers are deposited with the County Record Office or other area archive and these do seem to allow the filming of their holdings. Other listers may know more about these things than I do. Hope this helps Regards Jenny DeAngelis. Spain. 3. It would be practically impossible to list your request in a mailing, the best option would be to search the LDS library catalogue and see if the town or village you are interested in is listed. You may also find additional material you had not previously thought of searching. From the opening page http://www.familysearch.org/ click on *library* then click Family History Library catalog* finally click *Place Search* All filmed records may be ordered for viewing at your local family history center. 3. All As a follow on to a query posed the other day, can anyone summarise for me the approximate coverage of the UK's parish registers available from the LDS Family History Centres and where the (main) geographical gaps are? I was told (vaguely) that some vicars or dioceses refused to allow access for microfilming but wasn't told which though I've since read that East Anglia, and particularly Norfolk, is something of a black hole. Thanks and kind regards STC

    3. Just thought I'd add my thanks for your sterling work. I'm searching for Knowlsons in Stillington and then Thirsk and Coverdales from Kirbymoorside. Haven't spotted anything directly relevant yet but it's good to see the same names in the same areas coming up again and again (kind of confirms I'm on the right track!). Keep up the good work!
