Rose, Thanks, as always, for posting this. I see another Dobson entry at the bottom. Don't know who little Ethel May was, but her address might provide a clue. To: ENG-NORTH-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com I am new to the list, as well. Am interested in any and all Moores of Whitby, Lythe, Scarborough, Dent, previous to 1800. My 3rd ggfather appears in America at his marriage in 1808. His name was Oliv Moor, and he married Mary Polly Chandler. We have many clues leading to the North Riding area, but have not yet documented definite ties to your Moores there. One clue was a letter from "old Frances" who was longing for her sons John and Ollie (Moore) to return from America. No date. It was written for her by a "Reverend" but we don't know which parish or church to search and we don't know who her husband was. I visited England last month, and was blessed to tour the Yorkshire area....beautiful weather, lovely people, gorgeous scenery! Thanks, Annie in Idaho, USA annt51@cableone.net Moore, Banks, Kidd, Carter, Chandler, Billups

Hello I am researching a Newsam family in and around Kikrbymoorside in the 19th C. I have found a marriage certificate which shows that the marriage, in Kirkbymoorside on Dec 17 1874, took place in the Toll Booth. Although it was conducted "according to the rites and ceremonies of the Established Church" the marriage did not take place in the Parish Church though I believe it is recorded in the church marriage Register. Does anyone know why a marriage in Kirkbymoorside might have been conducted away from the Parish Church and in the Toll Booth? Is the Toll Booth still standing? Margaret Southern

Hi Sharon , I have had your name down for some while......from a Web Site ?? On Friday ,9th , I checked the Castleford phone book but no success , to be followed by your message on 11th !! I have no direct interest in SCURR but I am very interested in Ambrose SAYER and the New Malton Family and wonder if you have any more info about them . Ambrose , I am certain , belongs to the SAYER family of Hutton Rudby of which I have collected a lot of data . Having hit a brickwall on my own line , in Hutton Rudby ,c 1750 my probings have , along with other researchers , produced several good SAYER trees and others at an embryonic stage ...some 15 or so in all . Mainly N.Riding . The New Malton family takes me into the uncharted (for me) waters towards the E.Riding where I have a Redman SAYER also of H.Rudby raising family in Aberford ,Hull ,Bridlington ,Filey and finally New Malton . Best Wishes , Harry Sayer , Ambleside .....but from N.Riding > I am new to this list. > I have for many years being tracing families and descendants of people with the name SCURR. > > If there is anyone out there who has ancestors with this name or any information, no matter how small I would love to hear from you.
