Most are still there in the 1881 census and one still there with decendents in the 1901 census. What cemetaries should I be looking in? They were most likely Prime Methodist. cheers Marv Saltpspring Island in Western Canada

Hi, A question for Michelle re William Jackson -- Elizabeth Moon. I am getting closer to linking my 'Robert Jackson' to this couple. Can you tell me where Elizabeth Moon was born? So far I have found out that Robert Jackson married an Ann Dowson at Kirkdale. Ann's parents married in Rosedale. Can you see any links, as there were Moon families living in Rosedale? Contact me off list at ruthieb@bigpond.com. Many thanks, Ruth

Rose Morrison <rosebakmor@bigpond.com.au> posted lists of burials including: > 1919 > Oct 3rd George MEABURN 70yrs Tailor 1 Oxley Villa Thanks for this, Rose - the first name that's jumped out at me! My MEABURNs were tailors in Stainton-in-Cleveland, and this may be one of their children. In all George MEABURN (1805-1885) and Ann PALLISER (1808-1879) had 21 children. Of these only 5 were boys, and of those boys only two lived more than a few months. One was my ancestor Matthew (1833-1877), and the other was a George (born 1848) - and I wonder if he is the one mentioned here. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who knows of this family. I have quite a lot of information (mostly researched by a cousin), and we are always happy to find new connections. Arthur Kennedy akpak@waitrose.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~arthurk/

Hi, Can anyone tell me where KIRKDALE is in Yorkshire? I have a couple who married in Rosedale (which I've located) and had their children in Kirkdale. All help appreciated. Ruth
Hello from New Zealand I would like to know if there is anyone on the List who lives close enough to be able to check back numbers of the above newspaper for death notices, please? I'm sure that it is the correct paper for all of them. Five siblings of my gt grandfather died in the Northallerton area between the years 1903-1918 and I would like to obtain a copy/transcript of the death notice for each of them. I know that Northallerton Library has film of these papers until 1917 and that Darlington Public Library may have the later years. They were a long lived family, my gt grandfather was 88 when he died. Harriet HAMILTON of Borrowby Grange, died 28 May 1903, aged 79 years. Buried Leake St. Mary. John KILVINGTON of Kirby Sigston, died 26 Aug 1908, aged 72 years. Buried Kirby Sigston. Thomas KILVINGTON late of Landmoth, died 10 Dec 1916, aged 91 years. Buried Leake St. Mary. James KILVINGTON of Kirby Sigston, died 3 March 1918, aged 85 years. Buried Kirby Sigston. Elizabeth Mary CLARK of Brompton, died 9 March 1918, aged 90 years. Buried Brompton. I had hoped to find obituary notices, but drew a blank, for two of them, anyway, so I'm hoping the death notices may supply me with a little more information than I have at present. I can confirm that notices for Thomas & John do appear in the newspaper named. My thanks for your help. It's something I would prefer to do for myself - but - there are a few thousand too many kilometres separating us! Regards Ailsa Petrie -- Hamilton New Zealand
