    1. CATTLE FAMILY HULL/YORK 1829 period
    2. From the 1851 census I have a JOHN CATTLE born in York but am uncertain of his ancestors pre this date. He was living in Wilsons Passage Gillygate in 1851 and was said to have married HARRIET SPENCE sometime and somewhere between 1851 and 1861 but can't find any ref to a HARRIET SPENCE. If I could find the JOHN CATTLE -- HARRIET SPENCE marriage the certificate would give John's fathers data. Can anyone assist in finding the HARRIET SPENCE marriage or details of JOHN CATTLE's Father?? Many Thanks Rob

    1. Richard Jackson, merchant, died c. 1700-1731
    2. Dave King
    3. Hi, wonder if anyone can help. I'm looking for details of Richard Jackson, Merchant, and hopefully his will. He will have died sometime 1700 - 1731, and probably closer to the 1731 end.. He had a sister called Faith, who married John Porrett of Stockton on Tees, and who may have married previously to someone called Browne. he probably also had a son called Robert who went to Oporto. Does anyone with access to the indexes of either Durham or Yorks wills have any suggestions? many thanks, Dave King (Nuneaton UK) Genealogy website: http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/dhking/index.html Have you come across any stray PRISSICK/PRESSICK/PRESWICK records?

    2. Dave, If your chap you are looking for had property in more than one county then Wills proven at Canterbury is a good place to check. Found two of mine living at Cotherstone, North Riding with wills proven at Canterbury in the late 1700`s and not at York or Durham. Jack

    3. May I suggest getting a tabbed browser like Firefox, Netscape 8, Mozilla etc.? That way your search will automatically open a new window and you can go back to the previous window any time. No "expired data" any more. And like some of the other "best things in life" they are free. Regards and HTH Martin Willcocks Taylorsville, UT, USA.

    3. I too have had this type of problem over the past few weeks. When pressing the BACK button the message I get is:- "Warning: Page has Expired The page you requested was created using information you submitted in a form. This page is no longer available. As a security precaution, Internet Explorer does not automatically resubmit your information for you. To resubmit your information and view this Web page, click the Refresh button." Pressing the refresh button then starts you off with a cleared form ready to type in all your information again - most annoying! I have only experienced this happening since I changed to Broadband, and I naturally assumed it was a peculiarity of the broadband system. Don.

    3. The most up to date census is 1901, there is a 1911, but its not available to search untill 2011. Yuo could get an electoral roll if you know the address, but it will only show who in the house hold are elegable to vote, so if you are looking for say a man , woman and there children, it would be no good as it will not show children under 21yrs.
