Hello Roz, Could I please have the contact details to purchase the microfiche. You will not believe it but since we met in Baldersby I am still searching for the death of the elusive Elizabeth ROBINSON born in Oldfield eventually Auldfield. I would also be happy to wait for a few days for a look-up. Hope all is well with you. Best wishes, André STUECKELBERGER in Sydney
Howard, I have a Hannah DALE, born Bilsdale 1845, daughter of John DALE, farmer. A witness to her marriage to John KILVINGTON in 1875 was Thomas DALE, possibly a brother, as her father was deceased. As she married into my family, I have done no research on her background. However, an initial look at the IGI, indicates the possibility her parents may have been John DALE and Ann MITCHEL, married Helmsley, 16 December 1824. Possible siblings named Philip, Thomas, Tamer, John, Ann, Mary (two) & Martin. Interestingly, Hannah named one of her own daughters Tamer Elizabeth and I always wondered where it came from. Bilsdale is part of the Helmsley parish and the family above were all born/baptised Bilsdale Midcable, in the same area, apparently. There is also a Bilsdale Westside, to confuse the issue still further. All of this would have to be confirmed by reading the Parish Registers. Films of Helmsley Parish Registers and Bishops Transcripts for Bilsdale are available to order from the LDS system, if you have access to one of their libraries. I look forward to hearing from you, if any of the above ties in with your information. Hi Howard, The main church and parish records are for Bilsdale St Hilda, though there is a newer church - Bilsdale St John as well. Depending on the time frame you are looking at. It is also worth noting that since Bilsdale was originally a Chapelry of Helmsley sometimes, I find with my families Helmsley All Saints was used. Furthermore those folks living in Bilsdale Westside quite often used Hawnby All Saints as well. What are you looking for? - I have some Hugill's of Bisldale & Hawnby - though they are proving quite elusive at the moment. A good starting point for information about Bilsdale is www.genuki.org.uk Cheers Karen ----- Original Message ----- From: "Howard Egglestone" <[email protected]> > Researching my wife's family, three branches of which had holdings in > Bilsdale. Hi Sue: That would be super. What I am trying to do is find the burial place of my great grandfather, John Pickering who died July 25, 1872 in Undercliffe, Pickering. He and his wife had been living at Old Soney Moor House near Newton-on-Rawcliffe. I have checked the two cemetaries in Newton-on-Rawcliffe-no luck, so thought I would see what other cemetaries are in the area. Really appreciate your offer to see if there is a list. Thanks so much. It might point you in the right direction!! I haven't heard of the place myself!! Cheers, Don.
