If you see what I mean. The only variation is when a child is born to a single woman who claims a dead father for her daughter on the birth certificate. This has happened at least once in my family and I spent a long time fruitlessly hunting for the father in the 1871 census, or the marriage in 1871 / 72 for a child born in 1873. Good luck!
