Whether you'd explained it or not I had in fact worked this out for myself, which is why I said in my post of 18 November (16:57) that you and I had come CLOSE to a connection, not that we had one. How very different it would have been if the 35 year-old Glenbervie (Kincardineshire) born Alexander SHERRATT living at Howbury Barn, Ocle Pychard in Herefordshire who in April 1857 reported to the Bromyard Registrar the death of a 35 year-old Glenbervie-born Alexander SHERRATT living at Howbury Barn, Ocle Pychard in Herefordshire had been the other way around - you and I would have been 4th cousins or suchlike. :-) You said in your post that you thought the odds of this happening would have been quite short. If I were a betting man (which I'm not) I'd have wanted at least a million to one! I'd have thought any Insurance Claims Investigator would have taken a very long, hard look at the paperwork too! Have you perhaps thought of sending the death certificate to the Guinness Book of Records, or of having it framed and hung in a museum somewhere?
