Hello Maureen You give no indication as to where in the world you are, of course, but if in the UK can I suggest you get your hands on a copy of "Victuallers' Licences -Records for Family and Local Historians" by Jeremy Gibson & Judith Hunter (ISBN 1 86006 048 X). Most good libraries should have it in stock and some Record Offices might have it for sale - I purchased my copy in the Hereford RO some years ago for less than £4.
