I very much doubt this, Maureen - my EVANS's were for the most part a pretty unadventurous lot. Being in Puddington (bottom left corner of Wirral) in 1695 the furthest they'd strayed by the 1900's was New Brighton, some 12 miles to the north-east. My great grandad William EVANS did sail the world as a deep-sea mariner for the best part of 60 years (much of it as master) but when he finally got to hang up his sea-boots it was in Walton-on-the-Hill, no more than 5 miles across the River Mersey as the crow flies from his birthplace!
