Inadvertently omitted from my list :- HUTCHINSON (Broughton-in-Furnesss, Lancashire, 17/1800's) Gordon >Good Morning >I notice we have a number of new members on the list. More of my omitted English names :- BROWNE (Burton 15/1600's) WILSON (Burton/Willaston 16/1700's) Included in the latter is Thomas WILSON (b1663 Burton) who was Bishop of Sodor & Man 1697/1755. He's my first cousin 9 times removed, though a fat lot of good that's ever done me. :-) Gordon >Good Morning >I notice we have a number of new members on the list. Our Bennetts are all from Cardiff. In fact, although it's not STRICTLY a Merseyside matter, I would like some opinions on this: My husband is the youngest in his family. He is the only one born in England - the rest were born in Cardiff. both his parents were born and bred in Cardiff. I have traced his mother's family back to 1840 and they are ALL Cardiff born. His father's father was actually born in Herefordshire, but grew up in Cardiff. What does that make my husband? I say he is Welsh. He says he is English, of Welsh parentage. Janet Although you and I come pretty close to a connection through our KIRKPATRICK's of Liverpool & Caldy, and via them the SHERRATT's of Glenbervie & Ocle Pychard (Herefordshire) I'd be most surprised if the name DAVIES were to bear similar fruit :- One of my great-grandmothers was a Sidney DAVIES born 1833 in Amlwch (Anglesey). She married a Thomas HUGHES (b1826 Mold) and gave birth to three children (one my grandmother) in Holyhead between 1866 and 1873. The family were proprietors of the Anglesey Arms in Vulcan Street, Holyhead. Sidney died in Walton, Liverpool, in 1908 at the age of 74.
