    3. Wow, Gordon - that's AMAZING, and I am very grateful. In fact, it does look like Cut, rather than Cuts as I said, but I thought I could probably imagine the S there if I wanted to (the copy is very bad and blurred) and I have never heard of the name Cut before. The Burke brother in law is perhaps William's own brother in law or .... .... or I wonder where William was in the 1841 census. Sarah is very young to be the mother of a 9 year old, isn't she? Mind you she does jump in age from 25 in 1841 to 40 in the 1851 Census. But William Peacock is a millwright on this birth certificate, dated 1847 too. Thank you so much for this look up - I will look for another marriage now Marged The 1841 Census has this household :- HO 107/556/22 folio 7 page 7 Trueman Street, Liverpool Sarah PEACOCK, 25, Ind, Y (born in county) John, 9, Y Jane, 5, Y Sarah, 2, Y Joseph CUTT, 12, Y This looks to be the same family 10 years later :- 1851 Census HO 107/2178 folio 57 page 5 11 Gildart Gardens, Liverpool William PEACOCK, 41, millwright & engineer, LAN Liverpool Sarah, wife, 40, LAN Liverpool John, son, 18, apprentice, LAN Liverpool Jane, daur, 15, LAN Liverpool Sarah A, daur, 12, LAN Liverpool William, son, 9, LAN Liverpool Elizabeth, daur, 4, LAN Liverpool Joseph BURKE, brother-in-law, U, 23, blacksmith, LAN Liverpool So it's CUTT or BURKE? 3. Hi Marged The 12 year-old scholar Joseph CUTT from the 1841 Census who appeared to have metamorphosed into 23 year-old blacksmith Joseph BURKE (brother-in-law of William PEACOCK) by 1851 had almost certainly metamorphosed back again 4 years later, since Free BMD has this marriage :- June Quarter 1855 West Derby 8b/540 Joseph CUTT and Emily Charlotte FOWLER And the 1861 Census this household :- RG9/2711 folio 123 page 34 23 Henry Street, Everton Joseph CUTTS, 32, blacksmith, LAN LIVERPOOL Emily, wife, 29, LAN Liverpool George H, son, 5, LAN Everton Frederick J, son, 3, LAN Everton William J, son, 9 months, LAN Everton It is of course quite possible that Joseph really was Sarah's brother and not her illegitimate son, as I'm afraid I may have suggested in an earlier post. Hope you haven't forgotten that this family could well turn out to be that of my sister-in-law Linda MARTINDALE nee PEACOCK too? :-) Regards Gordon >From: "Marged" <marged36@btopenworld.com> >To: "MERSEYSIDE" <ENG-MERSEYSIDE-L@rootsweb.com> >Sent: Saturday, November 18, 2006 7:48 PM >Subject: [ENG-MERSEYSIDE] PEACOCK >I have today received the birth certificate of my great grandmother, >Elizabeth Peacock, born 1847.
