The above Peter MARTINDALE (b1840) + his uncle James MARTINDALE (b1819) were amongst seven men lost when the Liverpool lifeboat was upset whilst attempting to rescue the passengers and crew of the vessel LEILA on 15 January 1865. Peter's widow Sarah nee LUCAS remarried (in 1872) Charles WARD, who I believe someone else on this list has in their family tree. Would be delighted if anyone out there can identify a connection.
