Hi Mary, Thank you for your reply. William Swift and Alice Hughes are my 2 x gt. grandparents. Jane (Hughes) Swift was the first child and illegitimate daughter of Alice Hughes, born 29 March 1850, baptised 5 May 1850 in Holy Trinity, Hoylake. William Swift and Alice Hughes married 8 April 1856 at St. Peter's, Liverpool. Together, they had Joseph, William (who married his 3rd cousin, Sarah Ann Hughes in 1889 in Holy Trinity, Hoylake), Thomas (all born Liverpool), and (Isabel) Ann Swift (my gt. grandmother who was born in Hoylake and married Peter Sherlock in 1885 at St. Bridget's, West Kirby). After William's death in 1862, Alice went on to have at least one other daughter, Emily Alice Swift, born 7 April 1867 in Hill Houses, West Kirby. Emily Alice Swift married William Smith (born Meols) in 1894 at Holy Trinity, Hoylake, and they had children, (that I know of so far), David, Sarah and William.
