    3. Hi Diana, Gent is short for 'gentleman' - it means he had sufficient private income from land or investments not to have to work. The "T' and 'E & T' show who he voted for! If you look at the introductory page it gives the Key E = Ewart and T = Thornely - both on the Liberal side. Mr Ewart came top of the poll!
