    2. Hiya Mike, Not a computer expert here by any means, but have you tried maybe rebooting? Barring that, there is a computer help list on RootsWeb with the description: Topic: A mailing list for the discussion and sharing of information regarding computer questions in general, for all operating systems, with the focus on the use of computers in genealogy research including problems encountered. If ya wanna check out the list then you can send a new email to [email protected] with the word subscribe in the subject line and in the body of the message. Hope this helps, Lainee > [Original Message] > From: Mike Hayes <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> > Date: 10/7/2008 4:00:08 AM > Subject: [ENG-MERSEYSIDE] No Gen request > > Hi List > I have just put my family history cd into my dvd drive and there is no device recognised. On trying to diagnose the problem I got this message: > Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. Any clues would help as the cd has various data on it I need to retreive. > > Regards > > Mike Hayes
