Dear Magdalen, The age seems a bit young but he also seems to be the only and the most likely so I think you may just have to accept him!! Perkins Arnold S. 59. Crosby 8b 1245 in the June Qtr 1941. Hope that really answers your question. I have now found that Arnold S. Perkins was living at 57 Moor Lane until 1943 and from 1946 his wife was listed at the same address. Arnold probaly died between 1942 - 1946. Dear Tomas I am thrilled with this information, thank you so much. I think I will have to accept him too. The year 1941 seems about right for his death. Perhaps he was economical with the truth where his age is concerned. The 1901 census has his age as 24 and although there are plenty of PERKIN/PERKINS named Arnold he is the only one I have found with the initial S. There is also a birth registered in Kingston in Sep. Q. 1876 of Arnold Scott PERKIN but the family seem to have added the "S" to the surname later as I checked out the various census forms. I think one needs to be wary of ages on death certificates as they are often a guess by the informant. Perhaps in this case the fact that his wife was so much younger might have led him to reduce his age to be more acceptable to her.
