    3. Hi Gordon no offence taken I was just trying in my own limited way to say  that I did have more detailed information  a very kind lister in Nova Scotia sent me his copy of a booklet  ,The Trial of Jones Hazelton Anderson and Trevaskiss a compilation of all the Statements from the accused and all witnesses from the trial in 1844 a limited edition of 900 the judge summed up briliantly and said dont pay too much attention to what they say about themselves but concentrate on what they say about each other and from what I can make out Carr & Galloway were aquited mainly on Trevaskiss,s evidence  as you say they hanged him just the same ( and deserved )as I say Gordon no offence taken Now I have 2 William Henry Trevaskiss in my tree 1 b.c. 1857 the son of John Trevaskiss  so William,s nephew  and 1 sent to me by a distant relative of his William Henry b.c. 1869 they may be the same person I don,t know yet  do you know the relationship of Thomas H. to John and Martha ? and does it say where in Cornwall they were Born ? or where Thomas H. lived in liverpool By the way does anyone know if there is a Rootsweb site in Wahler Norway do we have any Norwegian Listers ?  Cheers George ----- Original Message ---- From: Gordon Evans <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, 22 July, 2008 4:10:46 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-MERSEYSIDE] William TREVASKISS, mutineer Hi George I meant no offence in my post, and would be mortified to think that you might have perceived any. :-( To this 68 year-old pensioner "megabucks" is anything over £7 - the cost of a BMD certificate.  :-) The "thug" tag was based on two newspaper reports from the Illustrated London News, posted on another list; you are obviously privy to more detailed information from another source, suggesting that there may have been mitigating circumstances (but they hanged him just the same?). Another poster on the same list gave you this family in the 1881 Canadian Census :- 1881 Canada Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario Martha TREVASKIS, 72, born England John TREVASKIS, 40, blacksmith, born England Thomas H TREVASKIS, 30, blacksmith, born England You asked the poster whether he knew where in England this John TREVASKIS was born, but I don't recall seeing any on-list response. So I endeavoured in my earlier post to demonstrate to you that Martha & John were born in CORNWALL, Thomas H in LIVERPOOL, since all three feature in the 1851 Census for Liverpool? PS. I've been called many, many things in my lifetime, but never (until now) "naive". :-) Best regards Gordon To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, July 20, 2008 1:04 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-MERSEYSIDE] William TREVASKISS, mutineer >Hi Gordon >I did not shell out megabucks as you said the cost was very reasonable >much cheeper than a trip to London for myself the proof was to find out if >he was not related to me as much as if he was. >I think it,s a bit naive to call him a thug , I in no way condone the >murders but given the alternative Join in or be thrown overboard not much >of an alternative, who,s to say at this distance what we would do . 3. Hi again George I have both the William Henry TREVASKISS's you mention in my family tree too, so they're not the same person :- 1. Born 1857 Liverpool, son of John (b1816 Stepney) & Ann BRADY. 2. Born 1869 Liverpool, son of John (b1844 Liverpool) & my relative Caroline TURTLE. The second one (b1869) was a grandson of John & Ann (Brady) TREVASKISS, he marrying Katherine HOLMAN in 1891 in Liverpool and having at least 9 TREVASKISS children, although four of these died in infancy. Of the first one (b1857) I have no trace after the 1861 Census, but I've know for some time that Ancestry have this :- 1910 US Federal Census Essex, New Jersey William H TREVASKISS, born about 1859 Spouse - Mary E It's on my list to look up on one of my future visits to Birkenhead Library, who I believe have free access to the US Censuses via Ancestry Library Edition.
