Sorry I don't have any real information to give you Gordon, but those Aughtons from North Meols are almost certain to still be around the Southport area - it's one of those Southport names. I took a look in the phone book for Shorlicar but the nearest to it was Shorleson. There are, however, five Sherlocks in the area. Marged Wondered if anyone on the list (apart from known blood-relatives) can relate to these people? :- Robert AUGHTON (b1732 North Meols) married Margaret SHORLICAR b1739 Birkdale) on 14 April 1761 in North Meols St Cuthbert, with AUGHTON children :- 1762 Easter 1764 Robert 1772 Isabel (d1769) 1774 John (d1797) 1777 Thomas 1779 Peggy (see below) 1782 Ann (d1783) 1785 Richard Peggy AUGHTON (b1779 Birkdale) married Thomas ECCLES (b1779 Ainsdale) on 9 February 1801 in North Meols St Cuthbert and had nine known ECCLES children born in Birkdale, Formby and Ainsdale. Thomas ECCLES' sibling John ECCLES (b1777 Ainsdale) married my 3 x great-grand-aunt Elizabeth JONES (b1781 Great Meols) on 15 March 1801 in West Kirby St Bridget and had ten known children born in Hoylake. Elizabeth's sister Peggy JONES (b1784 Great Meols) married my first cousin 5 times removed Joseph SHERLOCK (b1776 Greasby) on 12 August 1800 in Liverpool St Peter. Am trying to establish whether there might be a connection between the SHORLICARs of Birkdale and the SHERLOCKs of Wirral? Regards Gordon No virus found in this outgoing message. Hi Gordon As Isabel (below)was b 1772 did she die in 1779 not 1769 Pam "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a good looking and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, shouting - Wow! What a ride!" -----Original Message----- From: eng-merseyside-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-merseyside-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Marged Sent: 11 August 2010 8:30 AM To: eng-merseyside@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ENG-MERSEYSIDE] AUGHTON/SHORLICAR/ECCLES/JONES/SHERLOCK Sorry I don't have any real information to give you Gordon, but those Aughtons from North Meols are almost certain to still be around the Southport area - it's one of those Southport names.
