Hi Bill Wondered if you knew of a Tom Miller who (like you) lives in Phoenix, Arizona, and who is about to embark on a trip to England with his wife Laura? He's a direct descendant of fisherman Peter BALL (b1820 Southport) via his daughter Margaret (b1846 Southport) who married a James ASHWORTH on 23 January 1868 in Liverpool St Nicholas and emigrated to the USA a year later. Your ancestor Mary JONES (b1803 Great Meols) had a sister Susannah (b1825 Hoose) who married Hoylake fisherman Thomas JACKSON in 1845 and had 7 children, the eldest being an Ann, born 1846 in Hoose. On 15 July 1865, in Southport Holy Trinity, Ann JACKSON (b1846 Hoose) married Southport fisherman Peter BALL (b1845 Southport), the couple having three children born in Southport before crossing Liverpool Bay (around 1872) to Hoose, where they had five more. No evidence as yet that the two Southport fishermen named Peter BALL (one born in 1820 and the other in 1845) are directly related, but it seems a remarkable coincidence that you and Tom Miller should both be domiciled in Phoenix, Arizona, and both have connections to fishermen named Peter BALL domiciled in Southport in the mid-1800's?
