Hi Gordon, You and Andy sure are on the same wavelength. I've since looked over that census again and am now really liking Bella Tenant as she looks like a better opportunity for Thomas HANCOCK to find a wife, especially from Scotland. I'll have to search around to see what I may dig up on Bella TENANT. I'm also curious as to who Henry HANCOCK from Pensby is - probably Thomas Hancock's cousin but that's for another time as I'm really catching up on Joseph Parr - Jane Huntington descendents. I found some of them hidden in my own backyard. It's a shame New York isn't as generous as England with their genealogy data. England has me spoiled and yearning for more! Thanks for your help. Hi Eleanor You wrote :- >I'll have to search around to see what I may dig up on Bella TENANT. This seems a distinct possibillity in the 1881 Census :- 11 Newsham Terrace, West Derby Raymond W LOVELOCK, 27, clerk in Bank of England, b London Isabella TENNENT, servant, 19, general domestic servant, b SCO Paisley Given that she named her second daughter Margaret, this could well be her birth registration, bearing in mind that her age was stated to be 25 in 1891 and 34 in 1901 :- 3 February 1866 30 Old Dalmar, Nock Road, Glasgow Isabella TENNANT Father - David TENNANT, drayman Mother - Margaret TENNANT, maiden name AITKENHEAD Parents' marriage - 3 December 1858, Rutherglen >I'm also curious as to who Henry HANCOCK from Pensby is - probably Thomas >Hancock's cousin... Henry HANCOCK (b1835 Pensby) was indeed Thomas' first cousin, he being baptised on 3 October 1835 in Heswall St Peter, son of Edward Gore HANCOCK (b1806 Heswall) and Arabella WHITBY (b1806 Neston) who married on 18 December 1834 in Heswall St Peter. GORE being the maiden name of Edward & Charles HANCOCK's mother Sarah, who married Henry HANCOCK on 19 September 1805 in Heswall St Peter.
