    3. Hi Gail good to have you back in circulation Pam x "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a good looking and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, shouting - Wow! What a ride!" -----Original Message----- From: eng-merseyside-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-merseyside-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Gail Brumfitt Sent: 24 January 2011 9:27 AM To: eng-merseyside@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ENG-MERSEYSIDE] ancestors in the papers Hi Gordon Unfortunately, no I have never been able to prove that Joseph was the son of William ARMITAGE and Ann BIRD, but my gut feeling is that he is just can't prove it :-( Not sure if I saw your original post I just jumped straight in. Yes I'm still in Tassie which is home really as that is where we emigrated too and Mum is still here which is why I moved back from Sydney after spending 20 years there. The first thing I noticed when picking family history up again a couple of days ago was that the server for the CPRD was down (and yes I saw the announcement) so am waiting eagerly for them to have their coffee and get their act together and FIX IT - LOL :-) Best regards Gail -----Original Message----- From: eng-merseyside-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-merseyside-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Gordon Evans Sent: Monday, 24 January 2011 7:05 PM To: eng-merseyside@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ENG-MERSEYSIDE] ancestors in the papers Hi Gail Good to see you out and about again! (I too dabbled with facebook for a time, but ditched it when I realised just how invasive it can be). Wondered if you'd ever managed to prove that the Joseph ARMITAGE who married Betty JONES in 1823 in Liverpool St Mark was a son of William ARMITAGE and Ann BIRD, who married 1794 in Bidston St Oswald? If so, then the family I mentioned in my post headed 'Dual relationships' a couple of days ago would be quite close to you, since the three ARMITAGE girls who married DIX brothers were daughters of Samuel ARMITAGE (b1815 Leasowe) and Mary DUCKER, who married 1843 in Liverpool St Peter - Samuel being a son of the aforementioned William ARMITAGE by his 2nd wife Elizabeth BANKS, so a half-sibling to your ancestor Joseph ARMITAGE (born c1797 Wallasey)? Are you still in Tasmania, by the way, or did you return 'home' to Sydney?
