    3. Hi Marged Interesting to see that the 349 Jewish emigrants who left in February 1882 on board the steamer ILLINOIS were destined for Philadalephia USA? :-) Thanks for posting the link on the Merseyside list. 2. Hi Gordon, While I'm able to find the 1st listing you post for David TENNANT, W, 67, labourer, b Bathgate, I'm not finding the 2nd David TENNANT, 32, salesman of bottled drinks, b Lanarkshire Old Monkland unless ancestry.com doesn't have it. I don't get it; don't understand why it's not showing up. I'll keep hammering at it. Thank you for finding it; I agree the 2nd looks more likely to be Isabella's family. 3. Hi Pam, Many thanks for the census details you've sent. The only other 'definite' record I've found is for a burial at Woodchurch, 26 October 1803, John Davies son of John and Hannah Davies of Barnston, but I can't find the matching baptism. I'm puzzled as to why John and Hannah Davies were so favoured in the will. I'm assuming that John Silcock must have died by the time of his father's will, as he and his family weren't mentioned, even 'tho he had several children, unless he had had a previous settlement. It looks as 'tho Elizabeth Silcock may have had an illegitimate child, Mary Silcock, baptised 22 June 1794 at St. Bridget's, West Kirby. Maybe that's why she was out of favour, with only one shilling left to her. It looks as 'tho Philip never married, son of John Davies and Hannah. I wonder what happened to all the 'dosh'. 3. Sorry Eleanor - I meant that there is a marriage of a Thomas HANCOCK in the same year/quarter in Chesterfield but it looks as though he married Catherine PAGE or Ellen Dearden SWINDLE. That would suggest that Isabella STOCKS married Charles MEAKIN or Henry MIDDLETON. I've been pondering subscribing to Find My Past after my ancestry subscription runs out (march). I've tried them on a free search during the World Cup (thanks Pam) and like them. I have Jane Parr HANCOCK's baptism as well as her sis Margaret and am getting more curious about their mom so most likely will go the GRO route to make sure. 3. Hello Eleanor, If Marian's (M) is correct there is an Isabella STOCKS age 1 on 1871Cs, and a (B) in 1869 both in Dysart, Fife. If correct I can supply more details. It was more than probably this gentleman who witnessed Robert Silcock's will. Frankly, I'm struggling to identify much about John and Hannah (nee Silcock) Davies. They married 2 February 1792 at St. Bridget's, West Kirby. I can see a baptism at Woodchurch for a Philip Davies, son of John and Hannah Davies of Barnston on 16 April 1797, and not much else, and yet they were well favoured in Robert Silcock's 1817 will. Maybe they stayed on the farm with him until his death. I'm curious as to why daughter Elizabeth Silcock only received a shilling. Maybe she had already had a settlement at her marriage, but who did she marry? Still beavering away trying to sort it all out. He's not in my direct line, Von, but I do in fact have in my extended tree a John EVANS who was farming in Barnston from around 1808 until at least 1827, when his youngest daughter Ellen was baptised in Woodchurch Holy Cross. He's believed to have been born 1770/1 somewhere in Cheshire (died in1842, aged 71), so would have been aged around 47 when Robert SILCOCK's will was witnessed in 1817? Ellen EVANS (b1827 Barnston) married my 4th cousin 3 times removed William LEDDER (b1826 Wallasey) in 1850 in Liverpool St Martin and had four children all born in Liverpool. Don't recognise either of the other witnesses viz Joseph PEERS or John COOKSON, though - nor, for that matter the son-in-law John DAVIES. Can you perhaps help with this last one?
