I am looking for details of the parents and possible siblings of Mary Ann CORLETT born about 1836 who moved to Birkenhead with her parents before 1855 from Whitehaven, Cumberland. About all I know is that her father was a mariner and that once they moved to Birkenhead they lived in the Oxton Road area of the town. By the time of the 1861 census Mary Ann was married to Walter STOTT and living at Richmond Cottages, Birkenhead but I would love to track down her parents. Thanks, Alan
There was a very well known Corlett family who lived in the Wirral area upto the middle 1960s to my knowledge. There was a Lifeboat named 'Norman B. Corlett' after a family member who drowned. Think the boat was based either at Hoylake/West Kirby or Beaumaris Anglesey. May be a reference on the net. Regards Maureen NZ --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Thanks - that'd be great. I don't live so far, but my 9 year old does not get genealogy at all! Do you have them in the 1851 census? I have most of it on disk - could search it for you if you have an address. We link with McNally's later on - earlier last century. Hope the weather improves for your visit! Hi, Listers Found Henry Edward Street - he's not there! So if anyone comes across a William CORFIELD, particularly with a wife Catherine, I'd love to hear from them! In 1892 he gives his address as Epsom Street - this is a good mile or so from Henry Edward Street; I'm dismayed at the prospect of searching all points inbetween and around a bit! William had a 4 year old son, who may not have been living with him at the time of his marriage - apparently he left him with a relative while he 'squared it' with his new wife! He must be mis-transcribed somewhere. I've tried all of the variations I can think of, but they do often beat me! Here's hoping Rachel
Thanks, Errol It is definitely Henry Edward Street. Part of it is still there! I've worked out that Catherine was a ROGERS. Guess where she was living in 1881? You guessed it - Henry Edward Street! In 1881 this was in Liverpool / Dale Street, which narrows it down a bit. Hi, Listers My great great grandfather, William Joseph Corfield was born William Joseph CAULFIELD in Henry Edward Street in 1861. We believe that his father died, his mother remarried and he ran away. I've benver been able to find him on the 1871, 1881 or 1891 census, although we do have a possible boy on 1871, who could be living with a step-father. We have his marriage certificate to his second wife, my great great grandmother, in 1892. We knoew he had a son, Billy, from a first marriage, who emigrated to Australia. I found Billy's birthdate from the Australian archives, and received his birthcertificate today. Billy was born in Henry Edward Street! Date - 12/11/1886; father - William Corfield; mother Catherine, nee unreadable (looks like Ragow or something). Catherine registered the birth herself in January 1881, but must have died soon after. I would like to search the 1891 census for Henry Edward Street, but have no idea in which district it was based. The description of enumeration districts on Ancestry is different for 1891, and I cannot find the streets listed on the index. All of which is a long-winded way of asking if anyone has access to a street index for 1891, and could tell me the piece number / folios for Henry Edward Street. Fingers crossed Rachel www.tribalpages.com/tribes/rachelr
