    1. FW: BROADBENT; COPELAND; PAYNE; LOWE early 1900s England
    2. JimBev
    3. I am searching for a BROADBENT and associated families of whom I must admit I really know very little definitely. I realize that this is a familiar refrain :-) but I have set out all the information which I am reasonably certain. Like many families where one parent died, the children were split up and looked up by other family members Bill (William?) BROADBENT had at least one child from a first marriage - Peggy BROADBENT. He married a widow, Elizabeth COPELAND b c1884 Durham, ENG (d/o Joseph and Elizabeth COPELAND). Elizabeth had at least two daughters before this marriage but her husband had died in a work accident (or during the War} - Sally and Lizzie. I understand that her father, Joseph COPELAND, lived for some time with Elizabeth after she was widowed. She then married Bill BROADBENT After Elizabeth died, Sally was fostered by her aunt Margaret (my grandmother)- b1880 Hillmorton, WAR, ENG (d/o Joseph and Elizabeth COPELAND) who had married James PAYNE, and Sally lived with them in Liverpool until she went back to her stepfather. She was known as Sally BROADBENT and later married a widower, Tony HULL, and lived in Tyne and Wear. Tony had a son from his previous marriage, James Alan HULL, and Sally and Tony had one daughter - Moira Lizzie was fostered/adopted by another aunt, Martha (Pat} b c1878, SCT (d/o Joseph and Elizabeth COPELAND) who married James LOWE who lived in Bugsworth, DBY, ENG. She was always known as Lizzie LOWE. Martha and James LOWE had the following children - Leonard b c1898, Harry 1900 and Joe some time later Elizabeth COPELAND and Bill BROADBENT had the following children: Nellie, Ann, Alice and Bill. It is possible that Bill COPELAND (Jnr) went to live with his Uncle Joseph COPELAND b c1883, YKS, ENG (d/o Joseph and Elizabeth COPELAND) and his wife Annie in Ingrow, YKS, ENG and later at Menston which is between Bradford and Leeds TIA Jim Jim & Beverley Payne NEW ZEALAND jr_bjpayne@xtra.co.nz Our web page has moved to the following URL: http://www.shampayne.org.nz

    3. Hi Margaret I have no problem accessing Genes Reunited. The problem is more likely to be with your computer and not the site. I have had that problem where the computer closes down after receiving the 'illegal operation' message. Have you tried getting onto the site via a search engine and log on from there? Good Luck from another Margaret in Australia! Is anyone on the list using Genes Reunited in their research? I am having a problem accessing them. They send me updates on new names and also emails from contacts. neither of which i can open. I keep getting an aggravating message telling me there has been an illegal operation performed and the programme will be shut down which it immediately does. Freezing my computer. Is anyone else having this problem? It is not possible for me to contact them through their website although i have tried several ways. Hubby was born and raised there in Liverpool and we are going for a 2 week trip there in September, and although he isn't fond of my genealogy he knows that at least part of the time I will be working on it. I was hoping to have more to look for in Liverpool. But, then I already have this Barton puzzle along with the Harrisons in Liverpool. In Southport, I have Blundells, Balls, etc and etc and in North Wales, I have two lines of Jones...one in Denbighshire and one in Flintshire to look for so you would think I could keep busy!
