I haven't exactly absconded - I have been on this list since in opened, as well as the Liverpool and the Southport lists, and some of the Welsh ones occasionally. Will probably go back on the LIV-ENG one after a little break By the way, have we all absconded from the Liverpool list? Christine
I think, and I stress, think, I have just found Alice HUGHES with her parents in Great Crosby in 1881 census, no proof other than she is the only Alice Hughes in Crosby. Father Patrick, mother Alice and lots of sibs. Think I will have to order her marriage certificate to Edward ALTY and see what her father's name was. For anyone interested, Patrick HUGHES from Ireland and wife Alice from Gt Crosby. Look promising. If anyone else has already got this certificate I would be grateful for the details from it. Not much luck with this request expected. Thanks for your interest Marged. By the way, have we all absconded from the Liverpool list? Paul, My great great grandmother was Mary Chapman. She married Philip Phillips. They were from Newry and moved to Liverpool between 1856 - 1860. I have found them in West Derby. Dear Listers I know that three generations of my Shaw family were either fishermen sailing from Liverpool or were fishmongers. William Shaw sold fish in the St Johns market in Liverpool but I believe he also had a shop in Rock Ferry. I wonder if anyone has a trade directory for the Wirral for the early part of 20th century and can locate him for me? I would be very grateful. Leon from Oswestry
