Ian, Just had another look and think I may have found the father on the 1871... unfortunately it appears that he was being detained at Her Majesty's pleasure. Also, there are many Lally's from Galway on the 1871 if you would like their detail too. Hello all, I am a new subscriber trying to trace a JOYCE BEAUCHAMP / BEACHAM / BEACHIM. born possible Liverpool 1790. She was my Gt. Gt. Grandmother. On 18/5/1819 she married William Hippisley Perry in Kilmersden, Somerset. Name given as Joyce Beauchamp, no age given. When he died she married a John Rees in Shepton Mallet, Somerset on 2/11/1826. On the 1851 census she was down as Screase aged 45, widow. This would give her a birthdate around 1805. On the 1861 census she was down as Crees, aged 78, widow. This would give a birthdate of around 1783. When she died 28/4/1862 she was down as Crees, aged 82 which would give a birthdate around 1780. I have been unable to trace her Baptism / Christening around Kilmersden but have received some information that a James BEACHAM was removed from Liverpool to Kilmersden with 2 children around the beginning of 1798 under the Poor Law. On 18/2/1798 he received from the Parish the sum of 4/- for shoes for his daughter. I am wondering if any subscribers have any trace of him in Liverpool around this time, possibly a wedding or the Baptism /Christening of his two children. I would think that originally he came from Kilmersden to Liverpool, possibly for work and was removed back there after falling on hard times. A long shot I know but someone may know something of him. Any help or advice gratefully accepted. Regards Harry
Hi Susan, What a fantastic photograph to have! Can't help you with any specifics, but you might find this article from family tree magazine helpful. http://www.familytreemagazine.com/photos/apr01-04.htm Good Luck! He has an artillery pin on sleeve. He may have been in India in 1850s, and again around 1868 and 1869 (when my great great grandfather Robert Ashley Nicholls, was born ( July 1868/9). He was back in Liverpool in 1870 (child born in December). I would like to be able to identify what regiment he was in. I am hoping someone might have some ideas. I was able to find Joseph in 1851 census in Liverpool (he was listed as Josh Nichols) age 22, Dale Street, occupation painter. I have not been able to find him in 1861 census, or a marriage record (yet) for Joseph Nicholls and Susannah Smith. I found him in 1871 in England~ Joseph Nicholls and Susannah were living in North Meols, Lancashire County, England. Joseph Nicholls was listed as head of family, age 42, painter, born in Liverpool, Lancashire County, England. Susannah, his wife, was age 38, born in Tranmere, Cheshire County, England Children listed were Adalaide Nicholls, age 4 and Robert age 3 (both born in Southport, Lancashire County, England).I found Adelaide in BMD, but not Robert. Robert's marriage and death records (and census records) in the USA all list Benares India as place of birth. Hi Can I just bounce this off you all - I think I have found the missing John ALDRIDGE to Ann KNOX marriage. Their eldest child born 1873 (my direct ancestor, his mother's maiden name as KNOX) - various searches for marriage draw a blank. Then today I stumbled over this entry Marriages 1863 HEALING Ann to KNOX William Liverpool, St. Peter Liverpool 2122LP/44/354 STUBBS Ann to KNOX William Liverpool, St. Peter Liverpool 2122LP/44/354 Marriages 1873 STUBBS Ann to ALDRIDGE John Liverpool, St. Peter Liverpool 2122LP/61/223 1881 John and Ann ALDRIDGE living next door to William and Ann KNOX on Tamworth Street (in cellars) Toxteth Park! Do you think that perhaps William KNOX is step-father to Ann and her real maiden name was STUBBS?
