Hi Sorry I got this bit wrong! > > The BURNETT family are giving me quite a headache. > > I can't find them in 1861 I can find James (snr), wife Elizabeth, William and Margaret but I can't find James (jnr) John or Alexander. I have found a death entry in dec qua 1861 for an Alexander. There are a few John Burnetts listed too between 1851 and 1861 so maybe he died too. thanks Ian. ----------------------------------------- Email sent from www.ntlworld.com Virus-checked using McAfee(R) Software Visit www.ntlworld.com/security for more information
Hi everyone and thanks for replying to my requests! I am really confused about the squiggle next to the two sons, James and John BURNETT (both born Scotland). There is no other like it next to any of the other children in that family or any other on the page for that matter. I am unsure of exact birth details at this time. The BURNETT family are giving me quite a headache. I can't find them in 1861 and in 1871 Elizabeth seems to be a widow "on the parish" sharing with another widow of the same status but James (snr) appears to be alive and well in the workhouse describing himself as married. James (jnr) in 1871 has married and has a family of his own but by 1881 he has died and his widow has remarried. The children are transcibed as (Bennet) WILSON, took me years to figure that one out!! Any suggestions of what I should do next??? Many thanks Ian. > > From: "Sandra" > Date: 2006/06/23 Fri PM 07:02:16 BST > To: <ian.plimmer@ntlworld.com> > Subject: Burnett - ENG-Merseyside list > > Hi Ian > > > Not so sure about the 'Unmarried' theory. can anyone on the list tell me where I can get info on the Lancashire Fusilers, 1st battalion, as member of family served in regiment, thank you Les
Hooray for the Lancs freebmd!!! I was foolish enough to over look the marriage of James BURNETT to Mary HOWARD while searching the GRO on line. I looked at the wrong Mary and thought their refs didn't match! They are now on the Lancs freebmd site with a correct ref, so I can now send for the long lost certificate. Checking GRO again I find the right Mary was there all along - doh! Just thought I would show you how easy it is to overlook the obvious! LOL! <blush> Ian :) ----------------------------------------- Email sent from www.ntlworld.com Virus-checked using McAfee(R) Software Visit www.ntlworld.com/security for more information

Does anyone have accessto christening records (either C of E or RC) for Haydock c. 1843? TIA Tim
Would someone be able to look up the 1851 census for Garden Street and Parr Street in St Helens for me - I'm looking for a family of Callaghans (or similar). Interested to hear about any Callaghans (or similar) in St Helens (and Haydock) between 1840 and 1855. TIA Tim
Was there a Pau Street (HO107/517/10 Folio 20 Page 34) or something similar in Prescot in 1841?
