Hi List sending on again, as I have had no response. Thank you. So, my needs that I most certainly need help with, is finding the death record of Margaret Lloyd. Oh, the plot thickens, family lore is she died in a house fire. So, why doesn't the Merseyside Coroners office been unable to furnish the proof, for a death of Margaret between 1891 and Oct 1893? Wouldn't there have been an inquest for such a tragic death? Would there be a very clever person/s on this list who would please help me? Hi all, Just a quick line to let you know that the LANCASHIRE LOOK UP EXCHANGE is now up and running. You can access it directly by going to: http://www.lancs-lookup.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ or by going to: http://aztecrose.tripod.com/LookupExchange.htm and clicking on LANCASHIRE. Thank you to all who have volunteered to help with this project and to those of you that are not able to volunteer, but who have sent messages of support. I am still in need of some more volunteers. To be a volunteer you will need to have access to some Lancashire source ie, trade directories, parish records etc. You can check the site to see the type of thing and also to see what we have covered already. I have plenty of people who are happy to do census look ups and BMDs, but I need the more unusual stuff or those who are happy to go to the records offices. You can be involved as much or as little as you want to be. Offering very general look ups will result in more requests than if you offer to do look ups for one specific parish for example. If you volunteer but then find that it is taking more of your time than you imagined, just drop me a line and we can either amend what requests you will accept, limit the number or take you off the list... nothing is set in stone! Why not volunteer and give it a try! If you would like to volunteer but are concerned about having your email address publicly available, then I have a solution to that too (thanks Lynne!). Just drop me a line off list. I do hope that you find this new site helpful to you in your research. Any comments, criticisms or suggestions are all welcome... off list please. Best Regards, Ailsa Admin - Lancs. Look Up Exchange
Hello List Members. Just to thank you all for your tremendous help in finding my ancestors who emigrated to Australia, The web sites and information sent have been so helpful and much appreciated, Thanks to you all. Helen
If I may comment, such a lot in caps/upper case. Just as well only type names in upper case so we can pick them out. Janet ----- Original Message ----- From: <JMTsparks@aol.com> > > Helen, > > This may be your family. > > Mariners and ships in Australian Waters
Janet, Those were NOT my caps, but from the site. Surely Helen can pick out her Tomison and print a proper passenger list off the site. Helen, If you have not already done so, you can probably find registrations in the digger death index, and then download actual certificates from the PROV website using the index numbers. I downloaded several death certs and found an enormous amount of information on them, including enough to trace living relatives. My relations went to the same area around the same time. Good luck with it. Hi all, Tonight is our first meeting in August, we previously missed August out due to holidays. Well this year we are giving it a go and members and visitors are welcome to come tonight for 7.30pm at the YMCA, Manor Road, Wallasey ( just down the road from the police station). The speaker tonight is Roy Dennett with Tales of the Tranmere Workhouse. Parking is available on the grounds or outside the YMCA, Wheelchair access via a ramp and we are on the ground floor. Entrance £1 includes tea and biscuits. After the speaker feel free to talk to anyone ( were a friendly bunch) about your Family History and how we may be able to help you. Sometimes time is a little short but we will do our best, you dont need to speak to me in particular as we have many members who are very knowlegible about family and local history, just try and grab any committee member. For further details keep up to date on http://www.fhsc.org.uk/fhsc/wa.htm for Wallasey Group. Look forward to seeing you there Wendy Bennett Group Leader, Wallasey Group.
Mike, hello. I`ve just looked in my book `The Search for Old Wirral` by David Randall ISBN 0 907768 80 6 for any mention of Percy Cottage. Unfortunately I could find no mention of it but there are 6 interesting illustrated pages on Bidston as well as many other pages on all the Wirral villages. There is a lot about St Oswald`s Church and photos of Church Farm, The Lilacs, Yew Tree Farm and several of Bidston Hall. It`s a very good read for anyone interested in that part of the country. As a Wirral exile I now feel quite nostalgic having looked through the book. Hello All, Can anyone help a lady who wrote to me, she is looking for a photo of the school that was behind the old St Peter and St Pauls School in Wallasey circa early 1900-1920 or thereabouts. Wallasey Central library do not have any neither does Birkenhead. If you have a photo of this school or church please can you send me a decent copy of it. I'm on broadband so file size isn't a problem. If you are scanning an old photo can you please scan it at 300dpi. Thanks, on behalf of this lady and myself for any help, Wendy Bennett Group Leader, Wallasey Group FHSC
