    3. Hi Janet Yes, very short odds, I imagine. Unless Alexander had psychic powers and presented himself at the registery office immediately before his demise and sorted the paperwork out to save his family the trouble..... Or he could have had a twin brother of the same name? I'm putting my money on his psychic powers and hoping they passed down the line to you so that you can sort all our brick walls out. Or let me have next weeks lottery numbers so that I can get on with my family research without the hindrance of having to turn up for work five days a week. Sandra From: "Janet" <wightway@tiscali.co.uk> >I thought you might be interested in what is contained in the death >certificate. It's beautifully written, and quite clear. The identity of >the Informant however, is identical to the deceased; both Alexander >Sherratt, both of the same age, both of the same address. I would think >the odds of that happening are quite short. > > Janet

    3. I'm only sorry that up to now I haven't seen any names that I can help with, let alone fit into my own tree! But it's great to see so many listers writing in, and to see where they actually live. Marged Great idea, Marged! I think we all live in hope that a new member will come along and break our brick walls down. I'm researching the following in Liverpool (Everton and West Derby): HARRISON POWER GUY IRVING The following are my Staffordshire side, but I wonder if there are any possible Liverpool links as I often wonder why my father went from Stoke on Trent to Liverpool to find work (and met my mother, probably at the Grafton):

    3. Thanks for that offer in Herefordshire, Gordon. Yes, I have traced his paternal grandfather, who was a signalman on the Great Western Railway, and a one-time gardener in a great house. Marged Your husband's probably like me, Marged - when Wales win the Rugby Championship he's Welsh but when England win the World cup or the Ashes he's English! Have you ever been able to trace his paternal grandfather's birth in Herefordshire, by the way? I still pop back down there every now & again to visit my eldest daughter + 3 grandchildren, so if you could ever do with a look-up in the Hereford RO just give me the nod.

My g-g grandfather's sister Emma PERKES (b. ca 1861) married a "Dave" PORTHOUSE in about 1881. The PORTHOUSES seemed to have been from Liverpool. To say, by 1907 this line of Perkes had emigrated to Hamilton Ontario Canada. With a nephew Tom PORTHOUSE.
