>From The Liverpool Echo June 20 1848 I have a report on the inquest into the death of Thomas EVANS who died as as result of a "pugilistic encounter" at a Greasby Public House with one Joseph SHERLOCK, others involved were Wm SHERLOCK, Samuel POWNALL and William MINSHALL. A later report states they were all committed by the coroner for manslaughter. I believe Thomas EVANS was the brother of my 3xG/Grandmother, Mary EVANS but I am curious to know who in particular was the mentioned Joseph SHERLOCK. Can anyone shed any light on the above. If anyone would like further details of the reports please contact me off list and I will forward copies. Dear Tomas, I was just reading the queries that came into the list over the past couple days and I see that you were very helpful in finding a family member for a lady called Jeanette. Would you have the time to help me as well. I thought I should ask before I send all the details but I will tell you a little bit just in case you are not in an area where you can find the info for me. I am looking for my Gran's sister: Mary E. Jones.. born 1880 in Birkenhead Daughter of Owen Jones born in Wales and Margaret Durning born in Liverpool. Her sister Elizabeth (my Gran ) was born in 1881 in Birkenhead as well. I found Mary E. on the 1901 census working as a domestic.. but that is where I loose her. I would really like to know, when she married and to whom .. Mary E. had one daughter: M.Jackson.. now I'm not sure if this daughter was married or this was her maiden name. Any help you can give me Tomas would be much appreciated. I'm a senior living in Ontario Canada and Mary E.Jones has been my brick wall for many months now. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Sincerely. Margie Page [email protected]

Jeanette, I trawled the indexes, not too hard if you are systematic. I will have a look for you for Jessie. Do you think there were any children? Tomas ----- Original Message ---- From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, 3 August, 2008 11:40:57 AM Subject: [ENG-MERSEYSIDE] Jessie Wood Tomas.......Thank you so very, very much.......this one has been driving me mad for over 4 years now....this is fantastic. That is exactly what I was looking for. We are in Wales so not too far away to go and check out Wallasey a little to see maybe graveyards etc......but It was much better to get the names first and put me on the right track which you have now done. Can I please ask where you found that information if you don't mind? I tried Free BMD but it comes up blank. The year of death for Jessie would have been before 1973-2006 as she is beleived to have died quite young.......possibly more between 1942 and early 1950's as we know she was still living in 1942 by a letter here father had mentioning her and Walter.......other than that we are at a blank...... Once again, Thank you very much for your time and effort. Jessie Wood married Walter Graham in the Dec 1939 Qtr at Wallasey. Reference. Wallasey 8a 2291. I can see no death for her 1973 - 2006 inclusive. There is a death at Wallasey for Walter Graham born 23 Feb 1914 in the Sept Qtr 1981 Reference Wallasey 37 0973. There is a Walter Graham born MarQtr 1914 West Derby 8b 822 mother Edith maiden name Spiers and father David Graham married March 1904 West Derby 8b 525. (Also a sister Edith born Sept Qtr 1911 at West Derby 8b 766 and perhaps others born before that). Hope that helps a little. Not sure where you are, but a look for probate for Walter might give some answers to some of the questions you might want answered. Hi Anne, The birth certificates of all the children, who were born after civil registration started will give you their mother's maiden name. Most of them are on the Cheshire BMD site and freeBMD Anne On 29 Jul 2008, at 08:11, Anne Nazari wrote: > Hi To All. > > Can anyone please confirm the maiden name of Mary b1828, wife of > John SPARKS > b1824, both were born in Bebington and lived in Bebington and > Tranmere. > > They had about 10 children from 1846 to 1869. > > I have the following children married to: > Elizabeth SPARKS b1849 married William YOUDS > Mary Jane SPARKS b1851 married George HOCKENHULL. > Joseph SPARKS b1866 married Mary. > > Any further information on the family would be much appreciated. > > Kind Regards. > > Anne. > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] > with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and > the body of the message
