Hello Jim, Maybe your grandfather found some subsequent way of repaying the debts which had forced him into bankruptcy. He could then be ‘discharged’ from the bankruptcy order which prevented further trading. My grandfather was not able to do this and died in 1943 as an ‘undischarged’ bankrupt. Think the rules are quite different now, or maybe people ignore them. Hope this helps. Kath Prince
