Hi Irene I looked up the 1845 marriage for Ellener, hoping that her age would be given and I could cross-match her with the one from the 1841 census - she would have stood out as a more than 35-year-old marrying at that time, but unfortunately, the MC just says she was of full age. However, Joseph appears in 1851 where he is a widow, aged 46. He was therefore 40 when he married so there is a likelihood that Ellener was an older bride as well which is promising. I haven't been able to find Ellener's death registered as yet, but if I do I may order a copy as that will give me her exact age. I suspect Bispham is a name which was often mis-spelled! The names of the two witnesses are not familiar to me yet. I think I will spend my evening building as full a tree as I can of William and Mary's family and try to get my head around what else I can do to make links. This evidence may eventually build sufficient confidence to establish your links. Eleanor Cardwell (signed Ellener) married Joseph Bispham at the Collegiate Church in 1845. Her father was William Cardwell, a smith. The witnesses were of no help to me but perhaps they mean something to you. Worth a look.
