    3. Have you tried wills? There are lots of TRAVIS wills available. See Lancashire Will Search here - http://user.xmission.com/~nelsonb/lws.htm. Example - there is a will for John TRAVIS of Cheetham in 1590. And quite a few later wills for TRAVISes of Blackley. If you have known male line descendents from both branches then a Y-DNA comparison would be something to try. There is at least one TRAVIS project already underway. See http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Travis. But you should search further to see what else is out there. Best wishes, Irene

    3. Hello Irene Thank you for your reply . I have a number of wills from this period. One of them is the George Travis who died 1584. He mentions his son & heir George but no Thomas. None of the other wills I have obtained so far give me a definite link between the two Travis lines yet. I wonder if George jnr and Thomas are cousins. This is my hunch unless I can prove otherwise. I had not thought of DNA testing but I will have a look at the website. I am hoping that more documents from this earlier period become available. I am thinking that Manchester Family History Group should be next place to enquire. regards Julie On Sun, Feb 24, 2013 at 4:01 PM, Irene Marlborough <imarlb@sbcglobal.net>wrote: > Have you tried wills?
