    3. Hello. I am researching my family name of CARRINGTON. I live now in Kent, but was born in Middleton, in what is now Greater Manchester. My father lived in Harpurhey (b 1921) and my mother came from Salford (b 1924, family name WASHINGTON) The earliest Carrington I have found is my 3 greats grandfather, ISAAC CARRINGTON, baptised in 1788 in Flixton, Lancashire. His son JAMES CARRINGTON (born 1826) lived in various parts of central Manchester, but I can't find his birth details as yet. I have his marriage certificate (1850 in the Cathedral to Jane Birch) and have census records for him for 1851 and 1861, and JANE CARRINGTON in 1871, 1881 and a possible 1891. She died in 1898. I have a possible JAMES CARRINGTON in Worthington Workhouse in 1882 to 1884 Most of my relatives from the 1800's onwards came from Manchester and Salford, and I have found lots through the online databases, but can't pin down JAMES. I would love to know if anyone else is researching for either of my families, or knows of JAMES CARRINGTON. Coming to use the Manchester records office isn't yet an option, but would possibly help me if I did. Glynis

    3. Hi Glynis, There are some trees on Ancestry about James. One has his death as Oct-Dec 1887. Another as 1907 but that one does not seem to match his birth year. There is a christening of James on FamilySearch at Manchester Cathedral 5 Mar 1826, son of Isaac and Hannah. Is that where you got his father's name from as I cannot find anything else linking Isaac to James. I have found the Ancestry image for that but Ancestry indexes it as CANNINGTON, which it certainly looks like but not a surname I have come across. I will send that to you off list.
