    3. Hi Carol Are you certain it was 223 Crescent Road? My great grandfather died at 123 Crescent Road in 1933 and I discovered that it was an asylum. I seem to remember it later became Crumpsall Hospital although I don't have all my notes to hand at the moment. His wife Elizabeth was a Irish and one of their daughter's, May, lived with them. I think he also had a longish garden at the back where he had a greenhouse and also sold flowers. This is my husband's grandparents but he can only remember bits about it as he was only a youngster when his grandmother died at the house as his parent had left Blackley and lived in Withington and his grandfather died a year or so later at 223 Crescent Road Crumpsall. I don't know if this was a nursing home as May still lived in the house in Moston Lane. I do hope someone can shed a bit of light on this family.
