SOLOMON Saul - Cheetham Manchester CHE/84/4 - 1893 (LancashireBMD) SOLOMON Yetta - Cheetham Manchester CHE/89/85 -1895 (LancashireBMD) (1901 census - listed as Hettie, 1911 as Julia?) SOLOMON Leah - Stoke T. 6b 190 - Mar 1897 (FreeBMD) SOLOMON David Stockport 8a 64 - Jun 1898 (FreeBMD) SOLOMON Joe Stockport 8a 53 - Mar 1900 (FreeBMD) SOLOMON Sarah Stockport 8a 55 - Mar 1903 (FreeBMD) I'm thinking, if Joseph was registered as Joe, why wouldn't Solomon be registered as Saul? Yetta/Hetty/Julia... that's another story (and my stab in the dark)! No mention of Mother's name anywhere. I'm thinking that you may want certs for Saul, maybe Yetta, and probably David. hth David   :-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~:-~: Except for personal messages, please post replies to the list. 3. This was the original posting: "I am searching for a marriage of Barnett Solomon and Dora Finestein? They lived in Manchester for a number of years from around 1900 On the 1911 census Barnett is listed as being from Pheterchof Ackerve which could be Petersberg but he is listed as being Polish. His wife is Dora(h) Finestein and they married around 1871. She was from Russia and is listed as being from Nycotod, and haven't a clue where that could be or where to start searching. This is Jewish family history and very new to me. Their son is Joe/Joseph Solomon who I am particulary interested in. He is Joe on his birth cert but on one census is Joseph and also on his death cert. He is listed on the Manchester Schools admission and on enlisting for the army in 1918. Really would love to find more on his parents but haven't a clue how to go about this. Any help greatly received. Many thanks Patricia White" Next Antony mentioned that the 1901 census said they were from Warsaw. I found Barnett w/ his father and family in 1891 in Cheetham. Said Jacob POZNER? was his brother-in-law. Antony mentioned a will from Barnett where the executor was Jacob PORTNOY who turns out to be Jacob POZNER? My last message (which hasn't come through yet) mentions that Jacob and Leah (SOLOMON) PORTNOY (Barnetts brother-in-law and sister) had two children on the 1891, and the youngest was Yetta. This is what leads me to thinking that Barnett and Dora(h) would re-use that name, as a family tradition, perhaps... Short and sweet, but you should get in touch with Patricia White hth David
