    3. Many thanks, Mike. Gentry? They were in the 1400s, Lords of the Manor of Foxwist in the parish of Prestbury with land in Bedford, Lancs, and Salford, but the Bowdon lot were just farmers. It is more likely that "Jo:" father of the baptised child worked there, or perhaps there was a small hamlet in 1681 also known as Kempnough. This lot did leave wills though, and they leased land.
