Hi Mike - my Spencers were from Derbyshire - specifically a William Spencer married to a Judith Brooks - I haven't done much on that tree but I suspect he was born in the Wirksworth area around 1848. Before 1805 they came from Rishton in Lancashire near Clayton le Moors and Great Harwood.
