I apologise if you see this message more than once, but I have no idea where in the country this couple is, so I am posting this on more than one list where there are possible connections. William HUMPHREY (b Prickwillow, Cambs 1845) married Margaret CARTER (b Gilling, Yorks 1844) in Guisborough in 1873. In 1881 their two older children, Margaret (b Lingdale, Yorks 1874) and William (b Lingdale, Yorks 1875) are living with their father's sister Mary and her husband James WARREN in Norfolk. Meanwhile, their younger daughter, Elizabeth (b Barlow Moor, Lancs 1877) is living with William's brother John HUMPHREYS and his family, also in Norfolk. The whereabouts of the parents of these three children is a complete mystery. William appears on later censuses, so I know he was alive in 1881. Margaret may not have been, although I haven't found a death registered for her in the interim. Can anyone please help me to track down this couple in the 1881 census? They have links to various parts of North Yorkshire, Co Durham, Lancashire, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire at the very least. William was a navvy. Best regards Joanne
