    3. Does anyone know where Station Street was in Hulme. I have a directory extract for 1813 Pigots Manchester and Salford: George Shepherd shoemaker 6 Station Street Hulme. Mike can't find the street on his 1844 map of Hulme and wonders if the street may have been removed to make way for the railway. Any ideas anyone? Many thanks. Rob

    3. In my 1950's map I found a reference to Station St. being off Broughton Road possibly where it met the R.R. tracks. Bryan > Does anyone know where Station Street was in Hulme. 3. Hi Mike, Looking for clues... It's curious to think what a 'station' would have been in 1813? A dictionary couples the meaning of 'station' with 'military', so perhaps it was associated with the Barracks or the police? Perhaps you could email the Manchester Archives to ask about it. I presume he had died by the 1841 census, when you would be able to pick him up? Another thought... perhaps the boundaries of Hulme were different to what they were later in the century?
