Hello folks, I am much obliged to Kath and Heather for their help. The website http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/ is a huge boost, and already I have found the name of a glass manufacturing family in Liverpool in 1828-29 which I think the WALTONs married into, so that is terrific. What about websites for Victorian street maps of Hulme/Salford, please? I need these in order to identify the several addresses I have for the Waltons. Modern maps are no good of course.... because it was all bombed out in the War? The closest I have come yet is Vision of Britain web pages, but the image of early Manchester is way too fuzzy. I would much appreciate any links for maps. While I am here I would like to recommend Steven Dowd's excellent site http://www.n-le-w.co.uk/ all about Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown for anyone who wants to research in that area just west of Manchester. I know it is out of the bounds of this list but someone might find it useful. It has some terrific maps. Sally in East Yorkshire
