Thanks to Patricia for encouragement and to Sue for 1871 data. Unfortunately another dead end - TAYLOR doesn't fit my family tree at all. No point in looking at 1881 as I know my g-mother etc. were then in Salford. For those who may be interested, my g-mother (at age 28 mths) was "acquired" by the Heywoods after her mother died in Malta in 1871. How she got from Malta to Salford is a mystery.
