Hi folks, This is really addressed to Mike, in the hope that he can help me find a street please! But if someone else can help, great. In pursuit of several addresses for WALTONs who were glassmakers in Hulme from about 1860 to about 1880, I have made a list of up to a dozen streets from censuses where they appear. I am glad to say that with the help of someone on the list I have found the majority of them, but one is eluding me. In 1871 Thomas Walton Jnr was living with his family at 12 Stafford Street Hulme, a glassmaker. Looking at the Enumerator's Description notes for the district, I see that Stafford Street was somewhere between Chester Road, the River Irwell and the Cornbrook. Maps I have either don't cover that part or else the streets were built between 1858 (the latest dated map I have) and 1871. I notice that the Enumerator mentions the Derbyshire Glass Works in that district, which is very interesting to me indeed, for I had previous concluded that Thomas would be working for his uncle who owned the glassworks off Medlock Street at the time, but if the Derbyshire works were operating in 1871 at that location, the perhaps I should revise my thinking. If Mike or anyone could send me a scan of the right bit from a map of the period I would be delighted, as I would like to see the Derbyshire Glass works. I have another question but will post it separately... Many thanks indeed! Sally
