    1. [ENG-MAN] ADMIN - reminder about subject lines

    3. Dear Friends, If you want your messages to be read, be sure to use meaningful subject lines when posting. If the subject line doesn't tell us what your message contains, it's likely that those that receive a great deal of e-mail will delete your message without reading it and those that browse the archives will skip over it. A good subject line should be concise and contain the Who, What, Where, and Why of your message. Don't use "help," "census lookup," "info requested" or any other generic line. Whenever possible include the: - pertinent SURNAME in all uppercase, - date(s), - location, and - reason for your post. If you're replying to a message and the original poster didn't use a good subject line, please change the subject line when you respond. If your message veers far from the original subject, please create a new message with a new subject line. It is to your benefit to use meaningful subject lines. Don't let your message be overlooked! With thanks and best wishes, Lynne -- -- -- -- -- Administrative matters are not for discussion on list. Polite questions or suggestions may be sent to me privately off list at eng-manchester-admin@rootsweb.com.
