Also a "sick" nurse would be one who was taking care of an invalid or in a hospital. The other kind of nurses were taking care of (mostly) healthy children. Often these nurses would be children themselves so you'd have a 10 year old taking care of a couple of babies. It's a wonder any of them survived. Regards, Irene
