Dear Jane, I accept your offer with gratitude. I can find nothing about my g.grandfather, Robert Holding (Holden) who was married to my g.grandmother Tamar Wroe) who died in 1845 in Eccles, Lancs. The children lived with their married sister Mary Millward in a Naismyth foundry house in Patricroft. Tamar was born in 1801 Robert seems to have flown the coop before his wife's death but I can find no trace of him. His name is shown on my grandfather's wedding certificate as father of the groom but whether this means he was alive then, I do not know. Any light you can throw on this puzzle would be much appreciated.
