    3. Hi Pat, On the 1828 Pigot Directory there are no surgeons listed at Chorlton Row. What is the name of the person you are looking for? 3. Hi Gilly, You are always on the ball aren't you! The surgeon was called Edward Turner Bale - this is the info when he married. However, he really may have been an apprentice at that time. Also, he moved around so much, that he may not have been stationary long enough to to have got into a directory! I am no expert with directories, and have spent some time tonight trying to find him. I gave up when the Directories site seized! He also practised in Derbyshire (Crich) Liverpool and Salford possibly up to 1837 but not after that. If you can find him you are an angel! Regards, Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: gllykh Hi Pat, On the 1828 Pigot Directory there are no surgeons listed at Chorlton Row. What is the name of the person you are looking for? Gilly

    3. Hi Pat, Sorry I did not find "your" Edward, but I did find Chorlton Row listed in the street directory for Manchester on the Baines Directory for 1824/25. Only one person listed under the heading of surgeon is also listed as living in Chorlton Row, that was John Wickstead.perhaps your Edward was an apprentice/student of his. >From the 1834 Pigots Directory John Wickstead ,Surgeon is now at 28 Brook St,Chorlton on Medlock.Only two of the 1824 surgeons are listed on thee 1834 Partington, James Edge,52 Oxford St,C-o -M and Grindrod,William Thomas1,Sidney St C-o-M Hope this is of some help Gilly ----- Original Message ----- From: "patricia williams" <pat.williams121@virgin.net> To: <eng-manchester@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 15, 2008 5:02 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-MAN] Chorlton Row > Hi Gilly, > You are always on the ball aren't you! > The surgeon was called Edward Turner Bale - this is the info when he > married. > However, he really may have been an apprentice at that time.
