Hi Mike, I don't know if he actually attended Victoria University, a note in a journal he left to one of his grandchildren mentions the University but not when he attended. I am trying to find out where the attendence records might be found, I know he attended Withington Independent College in 1891 and he was 25 how long he had been there i don't know, and then he emigrated to Canada in 1907. Thanks for you response Eileen --- On Fri, 8/8/08, Mike Morris <morrisind@rogers.com> wrote: Was it possible he attended Victoria University of Manchester? Did you look at the names for the surrounding streets and roads when you checked out the 1891 census? That would have helped narrow down the search. Mike Morris Toronto Canada
Hello Eileen, Check the 1891 census for the surrounding street names. and let me know what they were. A strong clue would be if he was catholic. St Bedes appears to be the only place in this part of Manchester that was built to teach priests etc. On the other hand another List member mentioned a Methodist college.
